Mt. McKinley West Buttress Summit Climb Itinerary

Mt. McKinley Classic Summit and Traverse Climb Itinerary

Mt. McKinley is the highest peak in North America. Nowhere on earth does a massif rise so abruptly and dramatically out of a valley floor as does McKinley. From Talkeetna, elevation 340 feet, you look a mere fifty miles into the full 20,320-foot splendor of the mountain which, for good reasons, the Tanaina Indians called Denali "The High One". Denali Summit Ridge

The Mt. McKinley summit climb is the cornerstone of Alaska Denali Guiding Inc.'s mountaineering expeditions. We climb via the West Buttress and Karstens Ridge routes in the traditional expedition style.

The length of our expedition allows for adequate time to acclimatize to the altitude and to ensure sufficient time to wait out most inclement weather. Our goal is to climb safely to the summit together and to find satisfaction in the challenges of the expedition.

An integral part of this expedition is extensive instruction in mountaineering techniques and cold weather climbing conditions.
